■ 「ザ・ロータリアン」誌の写真コンテスト、応募者を募集中

　「ザ・ロータリアン」誌で紹介され、多くのロータリアンに感動を与えた人々やプロジェクトに、プロの批評家の目も向けられました。

　同誌の2007年6月号（写真で見るロータリー：第2回年次写真論評）は、出版物としてのその質の高さが認められ、フォリオ誌の補足・単発刊行物の部門で最優秀作品に贈られるシルバー・エディ賞を受賞しました。出版界でも最高の栄誉のひとつとされるエディ賞は、9月のニューヨーク市の祝祭で授与されました。

　職員が一同となって力を注いできたことも確かです。しかし、ロータリアンの皆さんの活動があってこそ今回の受賞に至ったのです。出版界が注目したのは、皆さんのプロジェクト、写真、物語です。

　皆さんもこの受賞歴を持つ「ザ・ロータリアン」誌に写真を送ってみませんか。

　毎年恒例の写真コンテストが近づいてきています。「超我の奉仕」を物語る2007-08年の最高の1枚を送ってください。
　さらに今年度は、ロサンゼルスRI国際大会の全出席者が、新たな賞、ピープルズチョイス賞に投票できることになりました。応募の締切は3月1日です。提出された写真はすべて「ザ・ロータリアン」誌の所有物となり、また、応募数が非常に多いため写真は返却されませんのでご了承ください。
手元に残しておきたいと思う写真の原本等は送付されないようくれぐれもご注意ください。

The Rotarian photo contest now open!

Professional critics have joined the many Rotarians who say they’re inspired by the people and projects featured in The Rotarian magazine.

The June 2007 issue (Rotary in Pictures: The Second Annual Photo Review) was recognized with Folio magazine’s silver Eddie Award for editorial excellence in the category of Best Supplemental Annual or One-Shot issue. Considered one of the top honors in the publishing world, the Eddies were given out at a New York City gala in September.

Sure, the staff worked hard, but without your efforts, none of this could have happened. It is your projects, your photos, and your stories that have caused the publishing world to sit up and take notice.

Now it’s time to get into the act again, because your photo could be featured in an award-winning issue of The Rotarian.

The annual photo contest is under way, so send us your best shot from 2007-08 that illustrates Service Above Self. What’s more, this year, everyone who attends the RI Convention in Los Angeles will be able to vote for their favorite in a new category: the People’s Choice Award. The deadline for entries is 1 March. Please don’t send originals that you can’t bear to part with, as all submissions become property of The Rotarian and, because of the large volume of entries, can’t be returned.
